The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends to immunocompromised people should consider getting a third dose of the vaccine against Covid19.


What is the difference between a third dose and a booster shot?
The third dose of vaccine is recommended for people who are immunocompromised. This group doesn’t build up the same level of immunity after two doses.

A booster shot is recommended for people to boost immunity after two doses of vaccine, having in mind that the effectiveness of the vaccine wanes over time. Health officials recommend it eight months after the full vaccination.


For now, only the third shot for immunocompromised people is approved. A person should not receive more than three vaccination doses against Covid19, according to the health authorities.
