In Picasso’s Blue Period, he was dealing with the suicide of a friend and the death of his father. “The Old Guitarist”, “La Vie”, and “The Frugal Repast” are some of the most famous paintings from the Blue Period.

Rose Period of Picasso’s Work

The Rose Period of Picasso’s work lasted from 1904 to 1906. It is name after the pale pink tones he used in many of his paintings during this time, and it is characterised by a more intimate style than his later work. His paintings during the Rose Period often featured circus performers and clowns. Some of the paintings from this period are some of Picasso’s most important and influential works.

The Cubism era of Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso’s Cubism period was when he developed his Cubist style. Two of the main types of Cubism are Analytics Cubism and Synthetics Cubism. In analytics Cubism, objects are reduced to basic geometric shapes such as circles, square and are regarded as the first phase of the Cubist movement. This allowed the artist to simultaneously depict the object from multiple viewpoints, creating a more abstract and fragmented representation of the subject. Synthetic Cubism was the second phase of the movement. It involved using different materials and objects in the painting. It was totally different from the first one.

Neoclassicism and surrealism era of Pablo Picasso

He worked in different styles. A series of paintings and drawings inspired by ancient Greek and Roman art. The 18th century saw neoclassicism’s emergence, characterised by a revival of classical techniques. The 1920s saw the emergence of Surrealism, a movement that used irrational and absurd imagery to express the unconscious mind. Picasso was married twice and had four children. Picasso’s first marriage was to Olga Khokhlova, a Russian ballerina, in 1918. While married to Olga, Picasso had several affairs and fathered several children out of wedlock. Even though the marriage was tumultuous, they remained wed until Olga died in 1955. After Olga’s death, Picasso married Jacqueline Roque, a French woman who worked at the pottery studio at the Château de Vauvenargues, where Picasso lived. The couple remained married until Picasso died in 1973.

Despite his contributions to the art world, Picasso was also controversial due to his relationships and behaviour. One controversy surrounding Picasso relates to his treatment of women. Picasso was so controversial for his many affairs and relationships, and he has been criticised for his treatment of women. He was married twice and had several mistresses; some accused him of being unfaithful and manipulative. Another controversy surrounding Picasso relates to his political beliefs and activities. In the time of the Spanish Civil war, he supported Republican units and painted some paintings which criticised nationalist rulers.
